Becky Logan

May 7, 1951 — July 8, 2022

Mrs. Rebecca (Becky) Logan, age 71, of Bolivar, went to be with Jesus on July 8, 2022. She was born to Alton Roy and Bertha Mae Barclay and raised in San Antonio, TX. She loved spending summers on the family farm with her Grandma Julia, Grandpa Otto, and Uncle Frank, feeding the cows and chickens, hunting the eggs, and helping with chores. Her parents were a strong Christian influence on her life, were very active in church, and emphasized daily Bible reading and memorization. Becky accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of 9. She was president of the Alpha Omega Christian Club in High School and read the “Bible verse for the day” every morning on the PA system to start the day. She graduated in the Top Ten from Thomas Edison High School, and loved serving the Lord as pianist at her church while still in High School. She attended college at Le Tourneau University, Longview TX, where she met her future husband, Marston.

In 1971, she joined the U.S. Navy and pursued a degree in nursing. She received her Officer’s commission as an Ensign at the Naval Officer’s Training School in Newport, Rhode Island.

After their marriage in 1972, Becky and Marston moved to Shreveport, LA where Becky completed her degree in Nursing and Marston his degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. After graduation, they moved to Millington, TN. She and Marston took night classes together for two years to earn their Master’s Degree in Operations Management from University of Arkansas, Naval Air Station Millington campus. Becky worked as Charge Nurse of the Coronary Care unit, Labor and Delivery, and eventually the Newborn Nursery at Naval Hospital Millington. During her time in the Navy, Becky gave birth to their son, Jason. She served her country faithfully and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant in 1976. She served briefly in the Navy Reserves until she was expecting their daughter, Heather.

In 1976, Becky and Marston moved to Bolivar, TN, and enjoyed many friendships in the community and at First Baptist Church, Bolivar. For many years after that, she worked part time as a Home Health Care Nurse.

She was an active member of First Baptist, Bolivar for 46 years, a member of the LACE Sunday School class, and used her musical gifts faithfully. She served as church pianist for over 25 years. She also played piano for the Golden Sounds Choir, children’s choir, Vacation Bible School and nursing home ministry. She was a member of the sanctuary choir and the hand bell choir, and played piano and keyboard in the praise team. She directed children’s preschool choir for several years, and also served as pianist with Richard Dickerson’s primary choir. She worked with Martha Jewel and Walter Anderson in the King’s Kids choir for over 25years. She sang on all of the Living Christmas Tree performances since the first one in 1980. She served on the Missions Committee and was an active member of the women’s missionary groups. She taught Sunday School for preschool children and middle school girls, and for many years, taught 1st grade Sunday School with Dorothy Henderson. Becky especially loved sharing the gospel with the children and leading them to the Lord.

Becky loved Jesus above all! Next, was her love for her family. She loved her husband of over 50 years so very much. He was her college sweetheart and was always faithful through all of their life challenges. Becky and Marston made many trips together, including to the Holy Land, East Asia, Thailand, and all over the U.S.

She adored her seven grandchildren, who affectionately called her Nana. She enjoyed reading them Bible stories, playing games, attending their school and athletic events, teaching them about the Lord, and memorizing scripture together. She loved making birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren. 15 years ago, she started the fun tradition of the annual Logan Family Talent Show. She especially treasured family photos and created many beautiful family photo books.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton Roy and Bertha Mae Barclay; and her brother, John Allan Barclay.
