Ben Warren Austin departed this life on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 30 days. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 4, 1950, the son of the late Warren G. and Elsie Blythe Austin. On September 28, 1998, he was united in marriage to Greta Thompson, who survives.
Benny, as most everyone knew him, was a fixture in the real estate business in Hardin County since 1968. He was the owner and real estate broker of List 4 Less Realty. His dedication and perseverance were not limited to real estate...he had a love for baseball, and he sponsored and coached numerous players throughout the years. Benny also enjoyed raising Daschund's and gardening. He was a member of the TN Realtors Association and Hopewell Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Greta Thompson Austin of Savannah, Tennessee, Benny is survived by his sons, Ryan Austin of Savannah, Tennessee, Benjamin Chad Austin and his wife Amy of Corinth, Mississippi, and Garrick Smith and his wife Sara of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Brenda Austin McNeill and her husband Gerald of Jackson, Tennessee; grandchildren, Destiny Sowell Lee, Devin Sowell, Isabella Price Austin, Ben Ceyton Austin, and Willa Margaret Smith; great grandchild, Kaeman Whit Sowell; mother of his two boys, Nancy Lumpkin of Savannah, Tennessee; and two nieces, Tifni McNeill Herlevic and Brandi McNeill Ragan.
Along with his parents, Benny was preceded in death by a niece, Tracey Fondren Gardner.
