Henderson, TN: Florence Bernese Cox age 95 passed away February 6, 2019 at McNairy County Healthcare.
She was born August 31, 1923 in the Woodville Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mattie Rhone Ki ng Cox. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1942, Freed Hardeman in 1944, and attended Union where she received a BA Degree in Education. She taught for some forty years in the Chester County school system, retiring from West Chester in 1983. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She was a member of several teaching organizations including Chester County Retired Teachers Association. She was a Christian in faith.
Miss Cox is survived by seven nieces and nephews, four great nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, John, Robert and Leon Cox and three sisters, Evora ’Sister’ Howell, Evelyn Haynes and Mavine Cox.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Jimmy Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday service time.
