BESSIE HASKINS
Reagan, TN: Bessie Jeanette Ussery Haskins age 79, passed away November 17, 2018.
She was born July 13, 1939 in Bakersfield, CA the daughter of the late Thomas Elton Frank and Rheba Louise Ussery Lewis. She grew up in Allen, OK. She married Charley Wayne Dodd, Sr. in 1955. They traveled a lot following Charley’s jobs as an ironworker, living in several states.
She worked as a CNA at Chester County Nursing Home and had her own housekeeping business. She loved riding motorcycles and skating. She lettered in volleyball as a student. She loved to sing and whistle and often wrote stories and articles for the newspaper in Scottsboro, AL. She was a member of the Diamond Grove Church of Christ.
Mrs. Haskins is survived by two daughters, Ginger Michelle Hutcheson (Dennis) of Reagan and Laura Anne Butler (James) of Sardis, TN; eleven grandchildren, Brendon Charles Dodd, Jerrol Wayne Dodd, Bryan Wayne Dodd, Cullen Lee Dodd, Jeromy Wayne Swain, Serena Michelle Shaw, Caitlin Rhea Hutcheson, Johnny Wayne Smith, William Cody Smith, Christopher Allen Dodd and Michael Joseph Knievel; nine great grandchildren, Josiah Smith, Nick Swain, Charli Mae Swain, Brielle Webb, Braydon Cupples, AhnaLee Shaw, Noah Joseph Knieval and Charley Boone Dodd; two brothers, Robert A. Lewis, Jr., Kenneth Wayne Lewis, and three sisters, Peggy Sue Wheeler, Roberta Jane Robbins and Paula Jean Lewis all of Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charley Wayne Dodd, Sr. in 1983, two sons, Charley Wayne Dodd, Jr. and Brian Keith Dodd and a sister, Glynda June Snead.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday December 1st at Austin’s Chapel Church of Christ at Scotts Hill with Gary Roeder and Al Price officiating.
