Mrs. Hodge, the widow of Grady Houston Hodge, passed away Friday night at NHC Oakwood in Lewisburg, TN.
She was born in Hardeman County, the daughter of the late John T. and Mary Ludella Moore and lived most all of her life in Hardeman County prior to moving to Marshall County, TN 25 years ago.
She married Mr. Hodge on October 3, 1937 and they were married for 58 years at the time of his death on May 27, 1996. A homemaker and farmer, Mrs. Hodge was a long time member of the Hatchie Baptist Church and, since living in Petersburg, attended Ostella church of Christ. She loved to quilt, giving many of her quilts away to friends and family. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing, flowers and gardening.
He leaves a daughter, Gracie Williams of Petersburg, TN; a brother, Rev. Orville McMahan of Hornsby; three grandchildren, David Williams of Petersburg, Nancy Brodock of Shelbyville, TN and Richard Norris Williams of Petersburg; five great-grandchildren, James Ray Cobb, Ashley Woodward (Jason), Janelle Williams, Joshua Williams (Jessica) and Justin Ross Williams; and one great-great-grandchild, Sarah Woodward.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Daisy Kennedy; and seven brothers, Peyton, Aubrey, Andrew, J. T., Phinis, J. C. and Walter McMahan.
