Betty Lou McCalip was born January 11, 1932 in Montezuma, TN the daughter of the late Frank Marion and Alta Mae Hatch Hurst. She graduated from Bolivar Central High School class of 1951, where she was a star basketball player. In 1951, the ladies basketball team went to Regionals. She had lived in Middleton, TN, Summitville, IN and returned back to Tennessee in 1968.
Mrs. McCalip was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. She
was the treasurer for Finger United Methodist Church and faithful member for 38 years. She was the President of Women's Auxiliary UAW in Indiana. She along with her husband volunteered for many years with the Literacy Council.
Mrs. McCalip departed this life on July 2, 2019 in Finger, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 5 Months, 21 Days. She is survived by three sons, Ross Frank McCalip III and wife Carolyn of Baton Rouge, LA, Winston McCalip of Malibu, CA, and Vincent McCalip and wife Wanda of Grand Junction, TN; two daughters, Risë Courter and husband Frank of Guys, TN, Rhonda Huber and husband Eric of Southaven, MS; seven grandchildren, Crystal Epperson, Adam McCalip, Erin Larroquette, Isaac McCalip, Justin Huber, David Huber, Hannah McCalip; seven great grandchildren, Arielle Claire Larroquette Laura Jane Huber, Mia Claire Huber, Cora Roś Huber, Olivia Heine, Zion McCalip, Zaio McCalip; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCalip was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McCalip; two brothers, Ralph and Bill Hurst; a sister, Cara Hurst.
