Betty Moore Ingram

September 25, 1933 — August 31, 2018

Betty Moore Ingram was born September 25, 1933 in Bethel Springs, TN the daughter of the late Wess and Lou Whitten Moore. She was the youngest of ten children.

She was united in marriage to John Quincy Ingram on May 28, 1960. Mr. Ingram preceded her in death on September 1, 2013.

Mrs. Ingram, a graduate of Selmer High School, retired from Brown Shoe Company, Factory V, after many years of service and later worked for the Independent Appeal. Additionally, she volunteered for the past four years at Jesus Cares of McNairy County Thrift Store. She was an active member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she served as President of the T.E.L. Sunday School class and with the Cake and Ice Cream Nursing Home Ministry. For many years, she led the tape ministry of the church delivering worship service audiotapes to the shut-in church and community members. Her friendship knew no age limit, her warm hugs and smile fit every friend no matter their age.

Mrs. Ingram went to her heavenly home on August 31, 2018 in Memphis, TN at the age of 84 Years, 11 Months, 6 Days. She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Travis and husband Rickey of Starkville, MS, Trudy Hawkins and husband Bill of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Virginia Davidson of Batavia, IA; a brother, Arthur Moore of Benton, AR; four grandchildren, Sarah and Ben Hawkins, Holly and James Travis; and a host of extended family and numerous friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ingram was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline Moore, Myrtle Hall, Annelle Hendrix, and Margie Goodrum; three brothers, Odis, Thurman, and Curtis Moore.

Mrs. Ingram ministered to others through her cooking, phone calls and visits. She was an encourager to many. She will be remembered for her selflessness, hard working nature, positive attitude, quick wit and sense of humor.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church building fund or Jesus Cares of McNairy County.
