Betty Shearon, 85, of Pocahontas, passed from this life Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in Somerville.
She was born Friday, Jul 26, 1935 in Whitten, Arkansas, daughter of the late Thomas Alvin Payne and Ila Evelyn Peppers Payne and lived in Arkansas, Washington and Millington prior to moving back here over 20 years ago. She was retired as a payclerk with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Mt. Home, Arkansas. She obtained her doctorate in Theology after she was 60 years old, and loved to worship the Lord and be around her family. Ms. Shearon attended First Baptist Church in Pocahontas.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Jones of Lakeland, TN; two sons, Barry Wayne Shearon (Rene) of Arlington and Landon Shearon (Wanda) of Pocahontas; a sister, Linda Sue Jenel of Prairie, WI; seven grandchildren, Logan Jones, William, Christopher and Alex McLemore, Billy Wilkerson, Matt and Stacie Shearon; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son in law, Larry Jones; three brothers, Melvin, Alfred and Doug Payne; and two sisters, Ruth Payne and Pauline Acree. * Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
