Bettye Jean Burnette, 84, of Middleton, passed away Sunday morning, August 19, 2018 at her home in Middleton.
The widow of Joseph Hayes Burnette, who died on November 24, 2000, after 46 years of marriage, she worked as a nurse's aid for Aurora Manor in Aurora, Illinois and in private care after that. She was born Saturday, September 30, 1933, in Saulsbury, daughter of the late James Bryan West and Maude Cossar West and lived in Illinois prior to moving back here in 1990. She was a 1951 graduate of Grand Junction High School and enjoyed cooking, gardening and working in her flowers. Her family states that she loved to joke around with them and take care of others, but her greatest fulfillment came from being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Kleinfeldt of Elgin, Illinois; a son, Jeff Burnette of Saulsbury; a sister, Earline Wheeler of Bolivar; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph " Bubba" Burnette in 2009; a brother, J.B. West, and a sister Estella Daniel.
