Mr. Bill Deen, age 81 of Saulsbury, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Carol Pearson Deen, whom he married on December 17, 1977 in Shelby County, he was retired from Conagra where he had worked for 40 years, and also was manager of the Farmers Market in Bolivar. He was born December 16, 1937, in Covington, TN, son of the late James Everette Deen and Rosetta Billings Deen and moved to Hardeman County from Shelby County 20 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper, and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed working, hunting, being outdoors, and participating in and watching sports, including golf, softball, baseball and football, having played with the New York Giants for a time. He received his greatest fulfillment from being around his family and his grandchildren. Mr. Deen was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Deen of Saulsbury; four children, Julie Deen of Millington, TN, Mark Deen of Saulsbury, Tim Reynolds (Tina) of Memphis and Laura Miller Nicola (Doug) of Urbana, IL; a sister, Jean Blankenship of Bartlett; four grandsons, Tim Simer (Kirolina), Austin Bateman, Houston Bateman and Alex Leigh and a great grandson, Ryan Simer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Deen Bateman in 2016 and a sister, Rose Marie Deen.
