Birdie Nell Thompson

Birdie Nell West Thompson peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro, TN at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Mrs. Thompson was born March 28, 1929 in Wayne County, TN and was the daughter of the late Luther and Ada (Holt) West. She was united in marriage to Raymond Lee Thompson on July 29, 1946 and he departed her in death on June 5, 2019. She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her flowers especially her roses.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by three daughters, Leatrice Ann Demery of Savannah, TN, Katherine Nell Brison and husband, David of Collinwood, TN and Brenda Faye Allen of Iron City, TN; her grandchildren, Kevin Copous and wife, Tammy, Rhonda Short, Brian Brison and wife, Brittney and grandaughter-in-law, Trisha Thompson; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a grandson, Johnathon Thompson; three brothers, James, Floyd and Herbert West and a sister, Ellen Bryan.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, assisting the family. Visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2020 from 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 11 am to service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Copous, Brian Brison, Cody Thompson, Larry Bryan, Dustin Bryan and Harold Thompson with Peyton Pigg and Brock Laminack being honorary pallbearers.
