Bobbie Patterson Harrison

Born on the 2nd of June, 1927, Bobbie Patterson Harrison was a beloved member of the Olive Hill community. She was a sister, a daughter, a wife, a mother and a friend to many. She was an active member of the community, working at McDougal’s drugstore for years, serving as the postmistress of the Olive Hill Post Office, helping organize community fund-raisers and was an office-holder for district elections.

Bobbie married William Joe Harrison on August 5, 1950. They had two children, Laura and Bill. As a wife and mother, Bobbie flourished: she was constantly making new dresses for Laura, developing new recipes, exploring her creative side. She loved gardening, painting, jewelry-making, crocheting, anything that allowed her to express herself. Many of her recipes have been handed down and are being eaten by a whole new generation. Her canvases adorn the walls of her children and grandchildren’s homes. Her crocheted pieces are proudly displayed in homes across the country. Bobbie’s mark has been indelibly left.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Zelma, her siblings, Byron Jr., Mary Ophelia and Louise and her husband Joe. Bobbie is survived by her brother, Jim, her children, Laura and Bill and many more (Mike, Randal, Angela, Joseph Riley, Will, Jared, Alec, Samantha Kate and her dear cousin Sue). Bobbie will be laid to rest in her family plot at the Olive Hill Cemetery, beside her husband Joe.
