BOBBY CUPPLES
Henderson: Bobby Wayne Cupples, age 79, passed away May 8, 2018 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home at Humboldt.
He was born January 2, 1939 in Chester County, the son of the late Benjamin and Martha Kathleen Palmer Cupples. He graduated from Chester County High School. He married Joyce King and they made their home in Henderson. He served the U.S. Air Force. After his active duty service he served over twenty years in the Tennessee Air National Guard based in Memphis.
He was an ordained minister all his adult life, pastoring Baptist churches at Corinth, MS, Cave Springs, Sweetlips, Hopewell and other churches in the area. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
He was also an insurance agent having worked with Independent Life, American General, Gulf Life, Woodman Life, and Liberty National Life.
Besides the ministry, he loved anything to do with airplanes, particularly C130’s.
Mr. Cupples is survived by his wife, Joyce Eleanor King Cupples of Humboldt; two sons, Robert Cupples (Pam) of Jackson and James Cupples of Jackson; six grandchildren, Dustin, Tyler, Samantha, Shanna, Elizabeth and Jonathan Cupples and two great grandchildren, Gavin and Bryce Cupples and a brother, Don Cupples of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Cupples.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 11, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday.
