Mrs. Brienda Mainers, age 70 of Selmer, formerly of Henderson, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2019 at her son's home in Selmer.
She was born Wednesday, August 11, 1948 to the late Steven Derwood and Mary Ercel Israel in Louisville, MS where she graduated high school. On May 23, 1966, she was married to Mr. Leonard Earl Mainers and they lived the rest of their lives in West Tennessee. Mr. Mainers passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011.
Mrs. Mainers had owned and operated Earl's Food Mart and Mainers' Lakeside Grocery where she loved to cook. However, she was primarily involved in teaching Children's Church at many local congregations for over 50 years. Her church membership at the time of her passing was at Clover Creek Baptist Church in Medon, TN.
An avid reader with a large personal library, she also made her own jewelry including, earrings, necklaces, brooches and cameos. As mentioned, she enjoyed cooking and teaching others to do so, including her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Earl Mainers (Angie) of Selmer and Ben "Rockstar" Mainers of Adamsville; three sisters, DeLois Bagwell (Ronnie) of Flowood, MS, Sherry Busby (Jake) of Pearl, MS and Mary Lou Jones (Dale) of Carthage, MS; two brothers, Roger Israel (Diane) of Pearl, MS and Allen Israel (Melanie) of Anchorage, AK; four grandchildren, Agion Lee Mainers, Michael Gean, Anthony Gean and Timothy Hill; and five great-grandchildren, Dayla Gean, Elijah James Gean, Brantlee Gean, Colby Hill and Ryder Gean.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Ida Mae Palmer; and brothers, Lee Anderson "Toby" Palmer and Riley DeWayn Miller.
