    Bruce Barton - Henderson

    December 3, 1939 - April 5, 2021

    BRUCE BARTON Henderson, TN: Bobby Bruce Barton age 81 passed away April 5, 2021 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born in Henderson, TN December 12, 1939, the son of the late John H. and Maggie Julia (Story) Barton. He grew up in Henderson as a youth then moved to Texas in his teen years. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1959 and he served for four years as well as two years in the Naval Reserve. He married Brenda Lee Mathews July 24, 1965, whom he met while working for Caterpillar, in East Peoria, IL. They remained in IL until 1979 when they returned to the Sweetlips area of Chester County. He began driving a truck for Barclay Inc. 1984-2005 as a long haul driver with the postal service. He was a hard worker and a good family provider. He was a “River Rat” and loved being on his boats and working on them. He was fortunate to have a good retirement and remained healthy up until this past year when he suffered from Covid-19 symptoms. Mr. Barton was survived by his wife Brenda Lee (Mathews) Barton of Henderson; daughter, Tammy Lynn Barton of Henderson, a son, Darin Bruce Barton (Kimberly) of Henderson, a brother, Billy Ralph Barton of Texas, a sister, Francis Brooks of Henderson, two grandchildren, Bradley Scott Barton and John Mason Barton, and two great grandchildren, Kyle Mason Barton and Sage Ellen Barton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Peggy Jean Pinson and two brothers Perry Barton and Jimmy Lee Barton. Memorial Services will be 7 pm Friday, April 9, 2021 at Shackelford Funeral of Directors -East Main Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm Friday at East Main Chapel.
