Burt Stanford Burns

August 6, 1965 — February 12, 2020

Burt Stanford Burns was born in Savannah, Tennessee, on August 6, 1965, to Bobby Eugene Burns and the late Nelda Faye Burns. After graduating from Wayne County High School in 1983, his life was truly blessed with his wonderful children, Justin Burns, Alana Burns Sobieralski and Abbi Burns. He was also fortunate enough to marry his best friend, Deborah Brown, on July 20, 2009. Burt was of the Church of Christ faith. He worked for TVA Machinist Local 65 where he was known for being an extremely hard worker as well as a devoted and loyal co-worker. He loved his children, family, and friends and was anxiously awaiting the upcoming arrival of his first grandson, Jace Robert. He loved to hunt, fish, travel, explore, and see new things with his wife Debbie. He was full of life, and you never saw Burt without a smile. He always brought laughter and fun into any situation. He will long be remembered for his willingness to go the extra mile to help everyone he met, and he made us all better people just by being around his contagious laugh and his ability to see the best in everyone. He was one of those people who always left a deep impact on those he met. He was humble, selfless, and never met a stranger. Stan absolutely loved the Tennessee Vols, the Tennessee Titans, and watching his nephews and nieces play sports. He departed this life on February 12, 2020, in Nashville, Tennessee. He is survived by his father, Bobby Eugene Burns, of Collinwood, his wife, Deborah Brown Burns, of Collinwood, son Justin Burns (Morgan) of Newbern, Tennessee, and daughters Alana Burns Sobieralski (Nick) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Abbi Burns of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Siblings include Randy Burns of Smyrna, Tennessee, and Christi Denning (Dale) of Bradford, Tennessee. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Glenn and Pat Brown of Collinwood, brother-in-law Ken Brown (Darlene) of Waynesboro, brother-in-law Ben Brown (Abree) of Collinwood and their children Tyler Brown, Emmy Reece Brown, and Neely Brown. Other survivors include his nieces Gabrielle Burns, Tabitha McMeley (Andrew), nephews Brandon Burns (Bonnie), Drew Denning (Brittany) and Drake Denning (Anna), great-niece, Bethany Burns and great-nephews, Ben Burns and Christopher McMeley. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Erby and Madgie Mildred Burns, maternal grandparents Clyde and Christine Devers, his mother Nelda Faye Burns, and his sister-in-law Melissa Burns.
