Carl Terry (Pappy) Kent was born November 28, 1957 in Covington, Tennessee, the son of the late Van Allen and Helen Gerline Shelley Kent. On March 10, 1998 he was united in marriage to Tammy Lynn Brigance, who survives.
Mr. Kent lived in Tipton County all of his life until he moved to Savannah, Tennessee in 2013. He worked as a cab driver for Millington Taxi, as a butcher for WalMart, and as a landscaper, while living in Millington, Tennessee. He was employed, at one time, with Conway Services Heating and Air Conditioning in Cordova, Tennessee. Mr. Kent also served his country enlisted in the United States Army. He was a talented and wonderful artist, who enjoyed fishing and hunting and he loved his grandchildren.
Mr. Kent departed this life on April 26, 2014 at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 29 days at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
In addition to his wife, Tammy Kent of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by four children, Amanda Butler of Savannah, Tennessee, Rebecca Kent of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, Carl Kent of Morris Chapel, Tennessee and Jeff Butler of Savannah, Tennessee; three sisters, Debbie Taylor of Memphis, Tennessee, Barbara Dibenedetto of Covington, Tennessee, Gail Ballard of Covington, Tennessee; three brothers, Donald Kent of Bartlett, Tennessee, Ricky Kent of Covington, Tennessee and David Kent of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and four grandchildren, Kaylee, Dalton, Timothy and Carl, Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Timmy Kent and one sister, Anita Harding.
