Carolyn Jane Godwin Crunk

August 22, 1933 — July 6, 2015

Carolyn Jane Godwin Crunk was born on August 22,1933, in the Walnut Grove Community, Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph J. and Cordelia Caldonia Love Godwin. She was the youngest of 11 children. After graduation from high school in 1951, she was employed as a secretary for Parris Manufacturing. She also worked for Edwin Ledbetter as a legal secretary. On December 20, 1954, she married Richard Roy Crunk.

Carolyn was crowned Miss Hardin County in 1953. She enjoyed fashion and modeling and was once published in Life Magazine. Most of all the mother of four loved spending time with her family and cherished their many trips taken together.

Following in her father's footsteps, Carolyn worked in the real estate industry becoming one of the first women to hold a brokers license in the area. She and her husband owned and operated Strout Realty and later Crunk Real Estate for over 35 years. She helped to form the first Hardin County Board of Realtors and served as the Secretary/Treasurer. She also served on the Central Bank Board of Directors from 2001 to 2014. Carolyn was instrumental in forming the Business and Professional Women's Club in Savannah, serving as the organization's first secretary. When her daughters were young, she worked with the Girl Scouts and Band Boosters. She was an active member of the Church of Christ for over 70 years.

On July 6, 2015, at age 81, Carolyn Jane Godwin Crunk departed this life at home surrounded by her family. She leaves four daughters, Sandra Jo Crunk, Bonnie Faye Young and husband, Mike, Carol Jane Crunk and Lela Beth Crunk. She also leaves her grandchildren, Katie Benson and husband, Arvie, Clay Young, Shelby Caperton and husband Jimmy, and Nick Anderson, two great grandchildren, Ava Beth Young and Carolyn Lily Caperton, all of Savannah.

Other than her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Kate Guinn, Mary Walker, Evelyn Sue Godwin and Christine Spencer and her brothers Sam Godwin, Joe Welch Godwin, Bob Godwin, Dan Godwin, and Billy Godwin.
