Elmer Carroll Connor was born February 15, 1924 and raised in the Glendale Community of Chester County, TN the son of the late Isaac Parrish and Inez Hodge Connor.
He farmed as a young man and married Virgie Maxine Latham of the New Friendship Community in 1943 and they made their home in Glendale Community. Mrs. Virgie died in February of 2006. Mr. Connor started in the construction business in 1952 after the tornado hit Henderson. Carroll and Ricky, his son, continued in the construction of houses.
He was a hard worker who also liked planting flowers and bluegrass music. He was a member of Middlefork Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter Venice Connor Gailbraith (Paul) of Jackson; two sons Johnny Connor (Judy) of Henderson, Ricky Connor (Gloria) of Finger; two brothers Pug Connor (Judy) of Nashville, Pat Connor (Faye) of Henderson; three sisters Wilma Connor Adcock of Jackson, Mary Dell Connor Gilchrist of Medon, Shirley Connor Harvey of Henderson; four grandchildren Kimberly Connor Cashion (Mark) of Mt. Pleasant, TN; Morgan Galbraith of Nashville, Richard Connor (Kristy) of Texas, Matthew Connor of Finger; six great grandchildren Caroline Cashion, Kayla, Dalton, Gage, Logan and Preston Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Connor was preceded in death by five brothers Melburn, Kent, Thomas, Gene and Paul Glenn Connor; a sister Nellie Connor Rouse; and a grandson Mitchell Andrew Connor.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 27 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson's East Main Chapel with Glenn Harris and Scott Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel on Monday, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
