Charlene Crotts Godwin was born on January 1, 1933 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Jim Jerrolds and Eliza Melvina Young Crotts.
On July 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Nelson Baxter Godwin, who preceded his wife in death on October 9, 2017.
Mrs. Godwin worked for Brown Shoe, Magic Mart, Harwood Manufacturing as a seamstress, and the Hardin County School System at White's Elementary in the cafeteria. She was a very active member of Campground United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tennessee where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and on several committees. Charlene was also a member of White's Home Demonstration Club and the Methodist Women's Club. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidering, working crossword puzzles, canning, writing poems, cooking Sunday dinner for her children, gardening, and tending to her flowers. Charlene also loved Southern Gospel singing and followed Heisman & Waymakers Quartets.
Charlene Crotts Godwin departed this life on July 7, 2021 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 6 days.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Nelson Godwin of Savannah, Tennessee and Tony Darrell Godwin and his wife Pam of Maryville, Tennessee; daughters, Vicki Janine Godwin Juckett and her husband Lenny of Maryville, Tennessee and Vonda Gay Godwin Johnson and her husband Randy of Andersonville, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Charlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Glen Crotts, age 2, and Jimmy Wayne Crotts; an infant brother, Arthur Crotts; and her grandson, Jacob Lynn Godwin.
