Mr. Irvin passed away on Friday night, May 22, 2020 at the home of his daughter, Lisa, in Nesbit, MS.

He was born at home in Saulsbury on Wednesday, May 27, 1942 to the late Johnnie Leroy and Gladys Margurette Hammons Irvin. He was educated in Hardeman County and was a 1960 graduate of Grand Junction High School. Mr. Irvin worked in heating/air conditioning system repair, roofing and as a caregiver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Irvin Harris.

Known to his friends as "Good-Time Charlie", Mr. Irvin enjoyed bringing joy to those around him with a smile, a joke or just his up-beat, happy personality. He liked to sing and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by four daughters, Wendy McClure (Jeff), Cathy Essary (Doug) and Lorrie Dale Irvin, all of Corinth, MS and Lisa Meeks (Brian) of Nesbit, MS; one son, Charles Leon Irvin, Jr. of Pryor, OK; a daughter-by-choice, Cherish Joyner of Memphis; one sister, Margaret Segars of Iva, SC; two brothers, Gene Irvin (Helen) of Michie, TN and Billy Irvin (Glenda) of Lucy, TN; fourteen grandchildren, Everette McClure, Shauana Robertson, Amanda Ingle, Thomas Irvin, Greg McClure, Melissa McClure, Mason McClure, Destanie McClure, Lilliebell McClure, Autumn Boren, Allison Coleman, Alan Essary, Kyndall Smyre and Karissa Meeks; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all Mr. Irvin's nieces and nephews for their love for him and especially his nephew, Mickey Irvin, for his special concern and care for his uncle during the last few years of his life.

Memorials may be sent to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 4050 Lake Hardeman Road, Saulsbury, TN 38067.

While visiting or attending services for Mr. Irvin, please consider the following guidelines:

* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
