CHARLES MULEY
Henderson, TN: Charles Edward Murley age 86 passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at his home.
He was born January 20, 1933 in Chester County, the son of the late Willie ‘W.H.’ Hampton Murley and Sudie Paralee King Murley. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1952. He joined the National Guard his last year of high school and after graduating, moved to Memphis and began working for Memphis Light Gas and Water. He left for two years and served in the Army but afterward he returned to work at Memphis Light Gas & Water and worked for twenty-five years before retiring.
He married Jean Mullins in 1957 and they made their home in Memphis. They were married fifty-two years. She passed away in 2010. After retiring, they moved to Deanburg in 1983.
He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, where he was very active, serving in various capacities including as Deacon. He also served many years on the Bethel Cemetery Committee.
He married Mary Eloise Wood in 2013.
Mr. Murley is survived by his wife, Mary Eloise Wood Murley of Henderson; two brothers, Ricky Murley and wife Celia of Henderson and Cecil B. Murley of Henderson and two sisters, Mary Joyce Stewart of Henderson and Jane Hayes (Earl) of Lexington and also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jean Mullins Murley and two sisters, Faye Murley Patterson and Freddie Mae Smith.
Funeral services will 11:00 AM Friday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with David Tull officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday.
