Charles William German, age 82 of Whiteville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2017.
Charles was born Sunday, October 28, 1934 to the late Herman and Bell German of Somerville, Tennessee. On Saturday, December 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Wilma German, who survives. Prior to retirement, he worked for the Fayette County Road Department.
Charles was a faithful member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church in the Vildo community. He was a hard-working man. He loved to garden, fish and coon hunt. He had a heart for other people and loved his family. He enjoyed camping with family, especially his grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herman German, Jr. and Thurman German; and two sisters, Kay Rutledge and Betty Logan.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wilma German; one son, David German and wife Karen of Whiteville; one daughter, Patricia Morris and husband Terry of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Savannah Patterson and husband Michael of Jackson; Emily Johnson and husband Stephen of Houston, Texas, and Christina German of Whiteville; one great-grandchild, Rose of Whiteville; five sisters, Geraldine Maher of Somerville, Ruth Taylor of Somerville, and Maxine Ferge of Somerville, Judy Phillips of Whiteville, and Peggy Lee of Bells; two brothers, Roy Neal German of Somerville, and John David German of Somerville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
