CHARLES WOOLEY
Pinson, TN: William Charles Wooley, Jr. age 80, passed away September 10, 2022 at his home.
He was born September 7, 1942 in Pinson, the son of the late William Charles ‘Jim’ and Marcella Briley Wooley. He grew up in Pinson and was a member of the first graduating class of Southside High School in 1960.
He married Doris Faye Skinner on September 21, 1962 and they made their home in Pinson.
After graduation he began working for Bemis Cotton Mill as a loom fixer and worked there until they closed in 1991. He then began working as a machinist for Madco in Jackson until he retired in 2005. He was an avid hunter, a musician and enjoyed drag racing in his youth, and also flying model airplanes. He was also a licensed pilot.
He was a member of the Pinson Baptist Church and loved singing in church.
He was a good man, a good husband and a good daddy and granddaddy.
Mr. Wooley is survived by his wife, Doris Faye Skinner Wooley; a son, Michael Wooley (Tina) of Pinson; a granddaughter, Madison Cummings (Chris); a great grandchild, Waylon Cummings and a brother, Danny Ray Wooley (Judy) of Pinson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 14th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Jimmy Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow in Big Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
