Charlie Burton Dillard

Mr. Charlie Burton Dillard, age 81, of Bolivar, passed away Tuesday morning, January 12, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Born in Silerton on Tuesday, August 2, 1939, he was the son of the late Thomas Columbus Dillard and Nannie Estelle Beshires Dillard and lived all of his life in Hardeman County. Mr. Dillard was a retired millwright from Kaiser Aluminum in Jackson following 15 years of service. He also had been chief of security for Harmon Automotive in Bolivar for 25 years and formerly served as a part-time sheriff's deputy for Hardeman County under Jimmy Williams.

Burton married the former Nancy Sipes on December 17, 1977 and they had been married 43 years at his passing. Mr. Dillard was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed working with horses especially Quarter horses and Appaloosa. He was active in caring for them, as a Farrier, and showing them as an announcer, judge and rider.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by step-son, Brian Parsons of Bolivar; son, Charles Lee Dillard (Stephanie) of Jackson; grandson, whom he raised as a son, Clint Parsons (Kristann) of Hornsby; very close friends, Machelle and Curtis Brush of Somerville; grandchildren, Brooke Parsons Cox (Steven) of Bolivar, Alexis Dillard of Jackson, Blake Galloway (Brandy) of Colorado, Trevor Galloway of Memphis, Kelly Brush of Somerville, Madison Howell of Bolivar and Lindsey Bishop of Memphis; great-grandchildren, Avery Cox, Liam Cox, Zaiden Howell and Alice Parsons; sister, Birdie Dillard Jones King of Bolivar; brother, Thomas Dillard of Bolivar; sister-in-law, Judy Chandler Dillard of Bolivar; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Dillard; and two nephews, Bill Dillard and Michael Jones.
