Cleveland Leon Reed departed this life on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at the age of 92 years, 5 months, and 21 days. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on August 3, 1928, the son of the late John and Nannie Rose Reed. On December 5, 2003, he was united in marriage to Murl Moser, who survives.
Cleveland served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had lived in Cedar Lake, Indiana, and worked for LTV Steel in Chicago, Illinois for 30 years as a crane operator. Cleveland's hobbies were gardening and horses. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee.
Cleveland is survived by his wife, Murl Reed of Savannah, Tennessee; children, Nan Conrad of Savannah, Tennessee, and Joy Stigall and her husband Ken of Pickwick Dam, Tennessee; stepchildren, James Hunt, Bobby Hunt, Paul Hunt, Brenda Qualls, and Sandra Herndon; brother, Gene Allen Reed; grandchildren, Jennifer Dodd and her husband Brent, Jason Conrad and his wife Suzanne, John Reed Odom; great grandchild, Alexander Conrad; 13 step grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, and 5 step great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Cleveland was preceded in death by his first wife, Maydell Reed; sisters, Ruby Cherback and Mary Francis Blount; and brothers, Fred Reed, Morris T. Reed, John H. Reed, and Paul C. Reed.
The family requests that masks be worn, and social distancing be practiced at both the visitation and the funeral service.
