CLIFTON MAINERS
Deanburg, TN: Clifton Edward Mainers age 96 passed away May 22, 2019 at his niece’s home.
He was born February 21, 1923 in the Deanburg Community of Chester County, the son of the late Hugh Ellis and Tressie Clarice Thomas Mainers. He attended schools in Chester County. He joined the Merchant Marines January 12, 1943 and served thirty-three years, retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed carpentry, plumbing & electrical, working and building several homes over the years. He was a lifetime member of the Pleasant Springs Methodist Church in Deanburg. His hobby was working.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2949 in Bolivar.
Mr. Mainers is survived by two sisters, Shirley Mainers of Deanburg and Louise McKinney of Memphis and also several nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Travis Mainers and Hugh Allen Mainers and sisters, Faye Suddreth, Betty Hicks, Peggy Mainers and Joyce Mainers.
Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Pleasant Springs Methodist Church with Charlie Crouthers officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Pleasant Springs Methodist Church beginning at 2:30 PM on Sunday.
