Dan Arthur Gant was born on September 29, 1924 in Saltillo, Tennessee, the son of the late Bruce and Icie Averett Gant.
On February 3, 1955, he was united in marriage to Suda May Singleton.Dan was a devoted husband to his wife for 50 years. Mrs. Gant preceded her husband in death on October 2, 2005.
Dan was a World War II Navy Veteran who served aboard the USS Biloxi. He was a truck driver for Spector Freight Lines and Yellow Freight until retiring. He grew up in Saltillo, Tennessee and was an active member of Saltillo Church of Christ. He loved hunting and fishing. Dan was a fan of the Memphis Grizzlies. He always had a garden and enjoyed sharing and taking his vegetables to others. Dan loved his community and served as a volunteer with the Fire Department for many years. He loved telling jokes and playing jokes on others. Dan loved people and loved his church.
Dan Arthur Gant departed this life on February 19, 2021 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 96 years, 4 months, and 21 days.
He is survived by his sister, Irma Williford of Memphis, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dan was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert Gant and Claude Gant.
