Daniel Franklin Nuckolls, 76, of Toone, TN, died Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Jackson General Hospital after battling pancreatic cancer.
A native of Hardeman County, he was born on January 1, 1943 to David Franklin Nuckolls and Moetta Evans Nuckolls. After graduating from Bolivar Central High School in 1961, Dan attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, earning a B.S. in Agriculture. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era on board the USS Yellowstone, USS Bainbridge and the USS King.
Dan was a third generation farmer in Hardeman County. He took an active role in improving farm production by serving on several farm related boards locally and nationally. In the course of his life, he was a farmer, surveyor, saw miller and timber cutter. Dan will be remembered best as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and a devoted servant in his church.
After marrying Karen Glover Nuckolls, he returned to Toone to make their home for fifty years. He leaves behind his son, David Sterling Nuckolls (Amy); two grandsons, John Thomas Nuckolls and Cole Daniel Nuckolls; a sister, Vicki Berkau (Tom); niece, Christy Berkau Pope(Kyle); great nephew, Bennett and great niece, Vivan; and a nephew, Thomas Berkau. Dan was preceded in death by both parents and a son, John.
