Deno Christ Kares departed this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the age of 91 years and 26 days. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 11, 1929, the son of the late Christ and Frances Kosance Kares. On September 21, 2000, he was united in marriage to Quay Wiginton, who survives.
Deno was a member of the Peoples Tabernacle Church of God in Savannah, Tennessee. He was a very active member of the church, singing in the church choir and helping his wife teach her Sunday school class. He had worked for CSX as a railroad foreman for over 35 years and retired from the company. He had also served his country honorably in the United States Army. Deno enjoyed singing, making fishing lures, reworking old furniture, traveling, reading books,playing Rook, and loved history, religion and his family.
Deno is survived by his wife, Quay Kares of Savannah, Tennessee; children, Michael Kares and his wife Gail, Kathy Wonderly and her husband Victor, Jim Kares, Jean Kares, all of Ohio, and Frank Kares and his friend Michelle of South Carolina; a stepdaughter Karen Lannon and her husband Steve of Clarksville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Mike Kares, Rachael Kares and her husband, Curtis Wonderly, and Emily Wonderly and her husband Anthony; a step grandchild, Kerri Knight and her husband Justin; great grandchildren, Savannah Webb, Caroline Webb, Violet Wonderly, and Eleni Karabesini; Step great great grandchildren, Chloe Knight, Quinton Knight, and Ashton Knight; a sister, Jean Kassor of Jackson, Tennessee; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Kares of Florida.
In addition to his parents, Deno was preceded in death by his first wife, Angelina Kares, a son, Steve Kares, and a brother, Pete Kares.
