Derril Wayne Turner

Derril Wayne Turner departed this life on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 22 days. He was born in Portales, New Mexico on July 12, 1948, the son of the late David and Lorene Poff Turner.
Derril had lived all of his life on Portales, New Mexico, where he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Central Christian Church, and Odd Fellows Club. He had worked for Roosevelt County Electric Company for 38 years as a heavy equipment operator before he became the owner of DT Trucking Company for 6 years. Derril enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He was a wonderful dancer and loved his grandchildren.
Derril is survived by his daughter Michelle Nickels and her husband Montie of Savannah, Tennessee; step children, Billy Moews and his wife Mary of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tom Turner and his wife Kerrie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Jenny Gentry of Bristow, Oklahoma; brothers, James Turner and his wife Judy, and Orvel Turner, all of Portales, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Derril was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kimberly Gentry.
