Dewitt Talmadge Murley

TALMADGE MURLEY
Bethel Springs, TN: Dewitt Talmadge Murley, age 94 passed away August 25, 2019 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN.
He was born and reared in the Masseyville Community of Chester County, the son of the late James LaFayette and Lidia Lou Hurst Murley. He attended school in Masseyville and farmed as a young man.
He entered the U.S. Navy during WWII, after the service he worked at the battery plant in Jackson, TN for several years and reentered the U.S. Navy and served a second enlistment. After his discharge from service for the second time, he worked for the State of Tennessee Highway Dept. as a Supervisor in the construction of concrete bridges. He retired from the Highway Dept. after 31 years of work. He was a cattle farmer all of his adult life, raising Angus and other breeds of cattle. He married Mary Elizabeth Snider Cornatzer in 1975 and they made their home in Masseyville. Mary passed away in January 2005.
Mr. Murley is survived by two sons; Kenny Murley, wife Donna and Randy Murley all of Bethel Springs and a step-daughter Brenda K. Hanna, husband Donnie of Henderson. Also two nephews; Terry DeBerry and Michael Murley and a niece Linda Schrader, a grandchild; Ashley Murley Mosier and a great grandchild; Odin Mosier.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; James Murley, George Murley, and Mack Murley and by five sisters; Bonnie Jordan, Helen Moore, Ramona DeBerry, Vernise Clayworth and Louise Donivan.
Memorial Services will be 7:00 pm Thursday at the Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue Chapel in Henderson. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at Crook Avenue Chapel.
