Donald R. "Hot Shot" Ferge, 71, of Somerville, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.
The husband of Simone Voyles Ferge, who survives, he was a retired truck driver/owner of Ferge Trucking Company and a farmer. He was born March 15, 1947, in Somerville, son of the late Edwin August Ferge and Julie Ethel Pittman Ferge and lived most all of his life in Fayette County. He served in the US Army for two years and married his wife on July 14, 1967 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. An avid welder, Mr. Ferge enjoyed sitting on a bucket watching his cattle eating, and loved to talk, gather eggs and do just about anything related to the farm. His family loving referred to him as a "J.O.A.T.", Jack Of All Trades and master of none. His greatest enjoyment came from being around his family, whom he dearly loved. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include 3 sons, Waylon Rhea Ferge of Somerville, Joseph (April) Ferge of Moscow and Brian (Jamie) Ferge of Savannah; a sister, Betty Rodger of Whiteville; a brother, Bailey (Hazel) Ferge of Somerville; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Velma Wilson, Geneva Crafton, Sarah Thompson and Eva Thompson and 2 brothers, Jack and James "Cobb" Ferge.
