Private, family-only chapel services for Doris Jeane (Trier) Potter will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar. Friends are invited to join the family at 4 pm Thursday, February 11, 2021 for the graveside service at Hebron Cemetery.

Mrs. Potter, aged 93, completed her earthly strife peacefully at home on Monday, February 8th, 2021 following a brief illness.

This kind and loved lady was born March 4th, 1927 in Flint Michigan, and bore the fruits of her maker throughout her life. She married the love of her life and husband for 67 years, Cecil Albert Potter, Second Lieutenant Bomber Co-Pilot for the U.S. Army Air Force, on August 5th, 1950 When husband and wife had the opportunity to travel, Doris Jeane was known to transform strangers into friends with little more than a smile and a dazzling talent for conversation.

As a dedicated homemaker, Mrs. Potter’s interests most often revolved around her family which cultivated five generations. She also enjoyed sewing, collecting porcelain dolls, Magnum PI, Jeopardy, and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan. After retirement, the Potters relocated from Memphis, Tennessee to Middleton, Tennessee where many joyous years were spent raising animals and grandchildren on their 90 acre farm. As the family grew, it earned the name “The Potter Ranch.” This devoted wife was preceded in death by her cherished groom, Cecil Albert Potter on January 16th, 2018.

This loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother was the essence of her family and is survived by three daughters: Jill (Charles) Howell, Lynne Ellington, and Ruthie (Sammy) Woody, Six grandchildren: Matt (Lillie) Howell, Shannon (Rusty) Whitten, Mindy Jean (John David) Meeks, Brianna (Jared) Dixon, Bryce (Christina Seymore) Downen, and Aaron (Haley) Downen, Twelve great grandchildren: Abigail Jean and Alexia Robinson, Andru, Blake, and Ian Howell, Elsie and Mason Darling, Gavin Brown, Braden Albert Fender, Jace and Gunner Farris, Emma Raye Whitten, and the newest edition of only 4 months; one great great grandson: Kysen “Nugget” Reaves.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Porter's Creek Baptist Church, Middleton, TN.
