Doris Sells
Henderson, TN; Doris Sells, age 82, passed away Friday night at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born and reared in the New Friendship Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Emerson Loyd Mooney and Sally Bell Young Mooney.
She attended Chester County Schools and graduated in 1957 as salutatorian of her class. She married Bobby Glen Sells September 14, 1957. They made their home in the New Friendship Community all their married life. She was a stay at home mom until her children where in junior high. She attended West Tennessee Business College and began working in the cafeteria at Chester County High School where she retired as manager.
She was a faithful member of the New Friendship Baptist Church, sang in the choir, and was active in the visitation program.
She and Bobby Glen had traveled all 48 continental states and she later visited Hawaii as number 49, not making it to Alaska.
She enjoyed sewing, making aprons to share, teddy bears for the Carl Perkins Center, crocheting and making baby blankets.
She and Bobby Glen developed and maintained life-long friendships with people in the church and community.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Sells and wife Paulette of Henderson; daughter, Sandy Sellers and husband Chad of Troy, TN; brother, Nelson Mooney of Henderson; ten grandchildren, Daniel, James, Kayla, Kristin, Nicholas, John, Sarah, Rachel, Anna, and Caleb; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Denise Armstrong, July 4, 2021.
Funeral services will be Monday November 15th at 11:00 AM at New Friendship Baptist church with Glen Harris officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue Chapel from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday and 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time Monday at New Friendship Baptist Church.
