Doris Townsend Britt, 71, passed away January 31, 2020 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Services will be held Monday, February 3, 2020 in the Shackelford Chapel - Bolivar at 1:00 pm. Visitation begins at 11:00 am Monday. There will be no committal service at the graveside. Burial is in Rogers Spring Cemetery.
Doris was born January 19, 1949 in Hardeman County to the late William and Clovis Brown Townsend.
Doris graduated Middleton High School with the Class of 1967. She attended Cosmetology School in Jackson, TN and owned her beauty salon there for many years before moving back to Hardeman County. She owned and operated The Tobacco Shack in Middleton, TN until her health no longer permitted.
Doris will be remembered for her love of music and wonderful singing voice. She also had an amazing love for animals, whom she called her babies.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss: her former husband, Sammy Britt, of Jackson, TN; three uncles, Wayne Brown of Bolivar, Lonnie Brown of Middleton and R. L. Townsend, also of Middleton; two aunts, Frances Ray and Rosie Toms, both of Middleton; many cousins and friends; and close friends, Gail Euton, Larry Callahan, Dewayne Smalley and Bobby Joe McCommons.
