Dorothy Cupples
Henderson: Dorothy Jean Ligon Cupples, age 80, died Friday night March 16, 2019 at her home.
She was born and reared in the Chickasaw Park Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Robert E. Ligon and Anna Mozella Newman Ligon Malone. She attended Chester County Schools and married Jimmy Cupples in 1956. They made their home in the Hughes Road Community. She graduated from McCollum and Ross Beauty School in Jackson. She worked at several local beauty shops and later owned and operated Dot’s Cut and Curl until she retired.
She loved working in flowers, grandchildren, great grandchildren and Toto her faithful dog.
She enjoyed being with friends. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters; Sandy Fesmire and husband Dennis of Lexington, Joanie Lowery and husband Richard of Henderson, and Joby Ralls and husband Ken of Henderson, a son Toby Cupples and wife Charlotte of Henderson, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister Virginia Cox of Henderson, and a brother Robert Ed Ligon of Columbus, GA.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Miles Cupples and two sisters; Betty Sheffield and Ann Dodd.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 18th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Gerald Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Owens Cemetery at Chickasaw.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Crook Avenue beginning at 5:00 PM Sunday.
