DORTHY "MOSSIE" SIMMERMAN
was born in Orange County, Indiana on July 5, 1921 the daughter of the late Joseph and Sally Roberts. She married Clarence R. Simmerman in October of 1937. They were a loving and devoted couple until his death in February of 2017.
Dorthy was a former resident of Williams, Indiana, West Palm Beach, Florida and Jupiter, Florida. She worked in munitions manufacturing during WWII. She was a skilled electronics wiring and assembly technician, working from the early years of radio and television manufacturing at Sarkes Tarzian and RCA in Bloomington, Indiana, to the wiring of harnesses for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft jet engines in West Palm Beach, Florida, in the 1970's. Dorthy was a member of Love and Truth Church in Adamsville, Tennessee and an Isaac Partner for the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews Patriarch Fellowship.
She departed this life on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 9 days.
Dorthy is survived by her son, Jerry Simmerman and his wife Marcia of Adamsville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Claris Bartlett and her husband Earl of Brownsboro, Alabama and Joy Varden and her husband Scott of Huntsville, Alabama; great grandchildren, Matthew Robinson and C. J. Boucher of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sarah Varden Miller and her husband Charles of Huntsville, Alabama, Christi Dutton and her husband Zane of Huntsville, Alabama, Blake Bartlett of Huntsville, Alabama and Jacob Bartlett of Huntsville, Alabama; and great great grandchild, Elise Jean Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Jackie Simmerman, two brothers, Opal Roberts and Melkerd (Mickey) Roberts and two sisters, Lydia Meadows and Nora Etta Wade.
Services were held on August 18, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Adamsville, Tennessee, with Scott Melson officiating. Burial followed in the Adamsville Cemetery, Adamsville, Tennessee.
