Douglas Woodrow "Woody" Sterling

April 23, 1945 — October 11, 2018

Mr. Sterling passed from this life on Thursday morning, October 11, 2018, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

A native of Hardeman County, he was the son of the late Steve and Nancy Wilson Sterling and lived most all of his life here. Mr. Sterling was a house builder and member of the Church of God International. In his leisure time, he enjoyed Civil War re-enactments, country dancing, fishing and hunting.

He leaves behind his wife, Linda, whom he married May 21, 2006; daughters, Kimberly (Glenn) McDonald of Nashville, Vickie (Chris) Ellis of Pleasant View, TN and Kathy Utley of Biloxi, MS; son, Tracy Sterling of Henderson; step-daughter, Sherri (Jerrod) Staggs of Adamsville; step-son, Donald Robbins, Jr. of Milledgeville; sisters, Gail (Cleveland) Wilson of Saltillo, Nell (Randall) Rhodes of Grand Prairie, TX and Jane (George) Ellis of Medon; and thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Sterling.
