Eddalois Blanton Smith departed this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the age of 95 years and 1 day. She was born in McNairy County, Tennessee, on April 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Henry E. and Bertha Case Blanton. On December 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to James Thelbert Smith, who preceded her in death on September 16, 1986.
Eddalois had worked at Brown Shoe Company in Savannah, Tennessee, for over 35 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Counce, Tennessee, since 1949. Eddalois taught Sunday school for many years and after retirement she began working VBS up until the age of 90, a span of over 30 years. Several years ago she began placing American flags on the graves of veterans at White Sulphur Cemetery. Eddalois was an excellent seamstress and would make her family clothes. Reading her Bible, yardwork and her mower were some of her greatest pleasures.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Smith Weiler and her husband Ron, and Sue Smith Baker and her husband Harold, all of Counce, Tennessee; brother, Joe N. Blanton of Tullahoma, Tennessee; granddaughters, Cynthia Weiler Burcham and Marian Weiler Perkins and her husband Chad; great grandchildren, Kyle Worley, Kayla Worley, Lane Burcham, Ross Burcham, Blythe Burcham, and Hannah Perkins; and great-great grandsons, Payden, Jace, and Eli.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eddalois was preceded in death by her sister, Graple Blanton Fields; sister-in-law, Joyce M. Blanton; and brother-in-law, Henry P. Fields.
