Eddie Gene Sides

Eddie Gene Sides was born on June 19, 1948 in Benton County, MS, the son of the late Vardeman (Red) and Emma Sides.

He was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Wharton on July 31, 1976.

Eddie was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family meant everything to him and he was everything to them. He enjoyed every second spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed everything outdoors; from "tinkering" with old cars to playing on his backhoe and dozer to gardening. He worked at Brown Shoe until it closed and then later retired from Monogram Refrigeration. He was a member of the Guys Christian Church.

Eddie departed this life on October 10, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family, at the age of 72 years, 3 Months, 21 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Sides of Guys, TN; a son, Keith Sides and wife Rhonda of Guys, TN; a daughter, Stephanie Matlock and husband Jeremy of Guys, TN; 5 grandchildren: Emma and Zakk Sides, Bobby, Marissa and Marlee Matlock; five sisters: Marie Stevens, Virgie Deming, Mary White, Mamie White, and Dot Frederick; two brothers, David and Johnny Sides; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sides was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Sides; two sisters, Betty Thomas and Louise Jones; two brothers, Bill and Thomas Sides.
