    Edmond James Adkins Jr.

    April 30, 1936 - January 30, 2022

    Edmond James "Jim" Adkins, Jr. was born April 30, 1936 in Leaksville, NC the son of Edmond James Adkins Sr. and Velma Collins Adkins. "Brother Jim" was united in marriage to Sandra Berry on June 23, 1957 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was a retired minister having served at the First Christian Church in Selmer, TN. and having previously held ministries in Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, and Indiana. He also served as a hospital Chaplain for many years. During his ministry Jim spent most of his time helping with church camps, church planting organizations, other church related outreach efforts and ministerial alliance. Mr. Adkins departed this life on January 30, 2022 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 85 Years, 9 Months. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Adkins of Joplin, MO; a daughter, Martha Mitchell and husband Mike of Nevada, MO; a son, Johnie Adkins and wife Teri of Joplin, MO; three grandchildren: Kara Mitchell of Cheyenne, WY, Kyle Adkins of Joplin, MO, Cody Adkins of Edwards Air Force Base, CA. No services were held. The family would like to thank the members of First Christian Church, Selmer, TN, Adamsville Healthcare and Rehab, and Legacy Hospice of Selmer, TN for their special love, care and service to "Brother Jim".
