Edna Marion Smith Dunn, 96 of Grand Junction, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Somerville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Carl W. Dunn, Sr., a son, Carl W. Dunn, Jr., and a daughter, Marion Craft Dunn Cross.
She was born in Grand Junction, daughter of the late Willie Clinton Craft Smith and Wave C. Smith and was the youngest of four children, Ida Lee Carleton (Harold), Wave Craft Smith (Elizabeth) and Marie Hanks (Luke), all whom preceded her in death. A graduate of Bolivar Central High School and Miss Wylie's Business College, she lived and worked for several years in Memphis during World War II.
Edna and their children traveled extensively with her husband as he served in the US Air Force, stateside and in many foreign countries, and was active in the Officers Wives Clubs wherever he was stationed. She was a member of Hatchie Chapter DAR, a former member of Ruritan International, and a member of First Baptist Church in Grand Junction.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Billy Roy Cross; grandchildren, Laura Gattis (Daniel), Christine Fowler (Chris), William Cross (Mary) and Raymond Cross (Kelly). Edna also leaves 9 great-grandchildren, Christian, Collin, Carl, Corey, Elizabeth Grace, Alexander, Lauralai, Jacquelyn and Ireland; a niece, Ann Morey (Rob) and nephews, Wave Smith, III (Gloria) and David Smith (Cindy) and a great nephew, Robby. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Grand Junction First Baptist Church.
