Elynor Hornsby DeBerry, age 83 of Hornsby, Tennessee, was received into the presence of our Lord Sunday afternoon, January 20, 2019 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
Mrs. DeBerry was born in Memphis, Tennesse on Saturday, January 18, 1936 to the late Brooks and Pearl Hornsby. On Sunday, February 21, 1954, she was united in marriage to Mr. James R. "Jim" DeBerry who preceded her in death Sunday, July 5, 2015.
She graduated from Bolivar Central High School with the class of 1954 and moved to back Hardeman County in 1985. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and enjoyed classical music, opera, European art and international travel. A member of Hornsby Baptist Church, she is a former member of Bellevue Baptist Church, where she was a choir member and frequent soloist.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Cassidy and husband Andrew of Houston, Texas, and Gina Box of Hornsby; son, James R. DeBerry of Hornsby; sisters, Janie H. Ross of Bolivar, and Nell H. Maddox of Germantown; brother, Willis P. Hornsby and wife Ann of Hornsby; grandchildren, Ashley Wallace and husband Christopher, Lauren DeBerry and Zack DeBerry; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Derral Box; and a brother-in-law, Kermit DeBerry.
The family would especially like to thank Rose Prewitt, Bobby Joe Cheirs and Clara Cruse for their wonderful care for Mrs. DeBerry.
