    Emanuel "Bunk" Taylor

    February 18, 1937 - August 12, 2021

    Emanuel "Bunk" Taylor was born on February 8, 1937 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late James Hollis and Mattie Pearl Tucker Taylor. In 1953, he was united in marriage to Cornelia Brown, who preceded her husband in death on August 31, 1989. Emanuel worked as a supervisor in construction. He spent most of his life living in Hardin County, Tennessee, but also lived in several other states including Georgia and Arkansas. He was a Shriner and Mason in Dayton, Ohio and a member of the Church of Christ. Bunk, as he was known by many, was a Civil War Buff and loved cars. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting guns, watching Westerns, and watching "Dirty Harry." Emanuel departed this life on August 12, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 4 days. He is survived by his son, John C. Taylor and his wife Teresa of Beech Island, South Carolina; daughters, Mariam Works and Shelonda Jackson, both of Dayton, Ohio; twin brother, Nathaniel Taylor and his wife Ellen of Germany; sisters, Shirley Tall of Nashville, Tennessee, Virginia Taylor of Chicago, Illinois, Dorothy Welch of Chicago, Illinois, and Mary Jordan and her husband Kenneth of Opelika, Alabama; sisters in law, Pearl Taylor of Clearcut, Iowa and Mary Taylor of Savannah, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a host of great great grandchildren; and a special friend, Mary Ruth Griffin of Savannah, Tennessee. In addition to his parents and wife, Emanuel was preceded in death by his brothers, James E. Taylor, Billy Malcombe Taylor, and Frank Taylor.
