ERMER MCNEIL
Finger, TN: Ermer Lee McNeil age 98 passed away May 9, 2019 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 9, 1921 in Chester County, to the late Will Thomas and Lettie Patterson Ivey. She grew up in Chester County and worked on the family farm and local factories most of her life. She later worked as an aide at Western State Hospital in Bolivar, retiring from there.
She was blessed to find love in this life, she married Roy Clayton in 1936 at age fifteen and he passed away in 1957. She later married Ervin Hurst in 1959 and he passed in 1982. She married L.O. McNeil in 1985 and he passed a year later. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Refuge Church of Christ. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, raising flowers, canning and cooking.
Mrs. McNeil is survived by two sons, Ralph Edward Clayton of Grove Hill, AL and Russell Clayton (Joyce) of Finger; a daughter, Vernice Funk (Bob) of Pekin, IL; grandchildren, Teresa (José) Vasquez, Tammy (Freddie) Pusser, Deonna (Steve) Morrison, Johnny Clayton, Jenny Clayton,Jimmy (Stephine) Clayton, Ralph (Holly) Clayton, Jr., Valerie Johnston, Sheri (Jim) Robison, Debbie (Kermit) Lofton and Dana (Dave) Shores and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, Danny Clayton and Ward Mayberry; two brothers, Everet Ivey and Vernon Ivey and sisters, Gladys Ivey Marsh, Carriese Tucker, Verlor Siler and Velnor Beshires and a daughter-in-law Grace Clayton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Roy Sharp and Ben Flatt officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday.
