Ernest Edward Choate

Ernest Edward Choate was born November 24, 1922 in Waynesboro, TN the son of the late Elvis Lindley and Molly Lois Tharp Choate. Mr. Choate departed this life on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 99 Years, 4 Months.

He was united in marriage to Mattie Louise on August 25, 1956. Mrs. Choate preceded him in death on December 10, 2016.

Mr. Choate was a retired electrician a member of Pope's Chapel Methodist Church, Waynesboro American Legion LBEW Local Union and served his country during World War II

He is survived by granddaughters, Karen Orton, Susan Orton and Diana Orton all of Lawrenceburg, great grandchildren, Evan Goolsby wife Tara, Jessie Orton and Eric Goolsby wife Karley, great great grandchildren, Xialynn Goolsby and Ledger Goolsby, nephew Mike Webb wife Samantha of Hohenwald, several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Choate was preceded in death by daughter, Lana Kay Orton, grandson, Ernest Mark Orton, brother, Ralph Choate, sisters, Betty Choate Frith and Jerry Webb

Services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Rick Brown and Mike Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 27, 5:00-8:00 pm and on Monday March 28, 8:00 am until service time at Shackelford Funeral Home, Waynesboro, TN
