Ernestine Lay departed this life on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 13 days. She was born in Adamsville, Tennessee on September 15, 1937, the daughter of the late Ernest and Alene Thrasher Coats. On October 21, 1956, she was united in marriage to Charles Lay, who survives.
Ernestine was affectionately referred to as "Teenie" by those closest to her. She lived most of her life in Memphis, Tennessee and was a secretary for National Mortgage Company. Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, and shopping. She was a member of Peace Tree United Methodist Church in Collierville, Tennessee.
In addition to her husband, Ernestine is survived by her sons, Lee Charles Lay and William Tracy Lay; a brother, Jerry Coats; and grandchildren, Angelica Hope Lay, Julia Lay Perry, Jason Thomas Lay, Ryan Alexander Lay, and Adam Christopher Lay.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Magsig.
