ETHEL MAE DESHAZIER MORRIS

Ethel Mae (DeShazier) Morris departed this life for the splendor of heaven on May 31, 2019 at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 22 days. She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on January 9, 1944, the daughter of the late Gilbert L. DeShazier and Ruby (Jones) DeShazier. Ethel was married to Arthur Jim Morris on July 21, 1954 and welcomed twin daughters, Patty Ann and Peggy Joann Morris on April 9, 1965.

Ethel was a homemaker and a very private person who enjoyed just being at home, gardening, cooking, singing and walking in nature. Ethel was a beloved mother, sister, daughter and friend and was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Savannah, Tennessee.

She leaves to honor her memory, daughter, Peggy Joann Morris (Tim Marsh) of Owosso, Michigan; brothers, Gilbert Odie DeShazier of Adamsville, Tennessee and Junior Lee DeShazier of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Della C. Melson and Inez Wilkerson, both of Savannah, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Patrick, Alex, Tim, Sarah, Becca and Abby; and five great grandchildren, Gabby, Galleria, Riley, Morgan and Aiden.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her daughter, Patty Ann (Morris) Britt; one brother, Wheeler DeShazier; and one sister, Edith Logan.

A very special thank you to her sister, Inez Wilkerson, for providing such loving care and comfort to Ethel in her time of need. A special thank you to the staff and personnel at Park Rest Nursing Home of Savannah, Tennessee who provided nursing care for Ethel Mae and her mother, Ruby (Jones) DeShazier. Special thanks to Avalon Hospice for their professional and personal excellence in providing comfort and compassion to Ethel and Ruby in their final days.
