Evelyene Cossar Hoover, age 75, of Hickory Valley, departed this life on Wednesday evening, March 30, 2022 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born in Saulsbury, the daughter of the late Jewell Wesley and Martha Frances McCommon Cossar and lived most all of her life in the Hickory Valley-Saulsbury communities of Hardeman County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Smith (2021), her husband, Bill Hoover (2020); two sisters, Hazel Yopp and husband, J. D. and Peggy Goodman and husband, Walter; brother, J. W. Cossar and wife, Rebecca; and a brother-in-law, Donnie Maddox.
Mrs. Hoover worked for Hardeman Garments in Bolivar before employment with Dover Elevator in Walnut, MS for over 20 years. She was a member of West Memorial Baptist Church where she was known to help with Bible School and in the Nursery. In her leisure time, she enjoyed going to yard and estate sales, crafting and time spent gathering with family and friends.
She is survived by three sisters, Margie (Richard) Mignard and Diane (Don) Doles, both of Hickory Valley and Ruby Maddox of Memphis; three brothers, Charles (Lorene) Cossar and Jimmy (Linda) Cossar, both of Bolivar and Mickey (Geneva) Cossar of Hickory Valley; and step-grandchildren, McKenzie Castellaw, Cody, Madison Nicole, Chloe Rae and Mallory Hobson.
